How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries
For this recipe you need 16 strawberries, 50 grams (⅓ cup) of white chocolate, 50 grams (⅓ cup) of dark chocolate and sprinkles (or any other topping you like). If you only want to use white or dark chocolate, you can omit one of the two and double the number.
We melt the chocolate a bain-marie, we will tell you how to do this. You can of course also melt the chocolate in a microwave or in a pan, but the a bain-marie technique is actually much more convenient. In the microwave and in a pan, the chocolate can burn or lumps may form. White chocolate, in particular, can clump quickly when you heat it in the microwave.
First, make sure the strawberries are clean and dry. Wash the strawberries with water and let them dry well. The crown does not have to be removed.
Melt Chocolate A Bain Marie
What is the a bain-marie technique? With this technique you can let something warm up or cool down, without putting it directly on the stove. We are going to let the chocolate warm up and let it melt. You put a pan with a bottom of water on the stove. Place a bowl on top that does not touch the water. By heating the water, the chocolate takes on the temperature of the water, due to the condensation that forms. Water has a boiling point of 100 °C / 212 °F. As a result, the chocolate will never get hotter than 100 °C / 212 °F.
When the chocolate has melted, you can dip strawberry into the chocolate. You can do this by hand by grabbing the crown or sticking the strawberry on a skewer. Then sprinkle the chocolate strawberry with sprinkles or a topping of your choice. Place the strawberries in the refrigerator so that the chocolate can harden.
How to Store Strawberries
If you want to store strawberries (without chocolate) for a few days, it is best to put them in the refrigerator. Strawberries can be stored for 1-3 days in the refrigerator. Remove them from the original tray and put them in another tray with paper towels to collect moisture.
Strawberries with chocolate cannot be stored for as long. Keep them for up to 1 day, but the faster you eat them, the better they are!

Chocolate Strawberries with Sprinkles
In this recipe we share how you can make chocolate strawberries yourself. Perfect as a snack, with coffee, for dessert, or for a romantic evening.
Ingredients
- 16 strawberries
- ⅓ cup white chocolate (50 gram)
- ⅓ cup dark chocolate (50 gram)
- sprinkles / sugar pearls
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries with water. Meanwhile, put a pan with a bit of water on the stove. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
- We are going to melt the chocolate a bain-marie. Break the chocolate into smaller pieces and place in a bowl. Choose whether you start with white or dark chocolate first.
- Hang the bowl in the pan, but make sure that the bowl does not touch the water. This is very important, otherwise the melting may fail. The chocolate is ready when it is completely melted.
- Or simply microwave the chocolate (watch out for the chocolate not to burn or clump). The a bain-marie way is the best.
- Dip a strawberry into the melted chocolate. You can do this by hand by grabbing the crown or sticking the strawberry on a skewer.
- Then sprinkle the chocolate strawberry with disco dip. Repeat with the other 7 strawberries. Place them in the refrigerator as soon as they are ready, on a plate or in a cup (on the skewer), so that the chocolate can harden.
- Clean the bowl and repeat the steps with the other chocolate (dark / white).
